Thank you Walking River for your help
and also for making this a very real
and easily followed ritual for a Home
priest put together when I was living in Houston.
It is adapted from the New Zealand Book of Common
Prayer and designed according to the my
small apartment I had at the time.
If you like it, copy/paste and share with others.
Hope this might help.
Encircle this dwelling place
with your protection, O God;
May your holy angels encompass these walls
And Peace be within them.
As earth brings forth its blossom,
or bushes burst into flower,
so make rightesouness and peace
blossom before all the people.
Make of this patio area a place
of serenity and peace.
In the name of God,
peace to this house.
Gad make it a haven
for all who live here.
Welcome to my home.
God of hearth and home,
maker of love and laughter,
make this home
a place for reflection and restoration,
rest and renewal,
a place where (insert names)
may find its strength.
God watch over your going out
and your coming in
from this time forth for evermore.
The living God gave us from heaven
rain and fruitful seasons
satisfying our hearts with food and gladness.
God brings forth food from the earth
and wine to gladden the heart.
Blessed are you, most gracious God,
for gifts from your bounty which we receive.
May our hearts be thankful;
may we always have room for a guest.
Make us grateful for all your gifts to us,
and always mindful of
and responsive to the needs of others.
Officiant: you shall eat in plenty and be satisfied,
and praise the name of God who has dealt
so wondrously with you.
The eyes of all wait upon you, O God.
and you give them their food in due season.
God of garden, farm and factory,
may what is prepared here bring strength and health.
Bless the hands that work in this place,
nourish us with all goodness
and give us grateful hearts for daily bread.
May God our constant guest
make our humblest meal
a welcoming offering.
O how good and pleasant it is,
when God's people live together in unity.
love for one another fervently,
for love covers many faults.
O loving God, you have made us
to need each other
and to grow best with companions;
bless those who shall sit or talk
or work together here.
May they share your care and understanding.
May this home be for all
a place where relationships mature,
quarrels are made up,
failures forgiven and strength renewed.
Blessed be God
who breaks down the walls that divide
The peace of God be always with you
Praise to God who unites us in peace.
Guide us waking, O God,
and guard us sleeping,
for it is in God alone
that I dwell unafraid.
God of the day and of the night,
may this be a holy and blessed place for (insert names),
a sacred place of rest.
May he know your loving presence
find rest for his fatigue,
and peace for his anxiety,
as he finds rest and refreshment in this place.
May your holy angels guard him,
your continual blessing strengthen him
"I will sprinkle you with clean water,
and you will be cleansed."
Let us hold fast our hope without wavering.
having our bodies
washed with pure water.
May this place, O God,
be a place of refreshment and cleansing
for the bodies with which
you have gifted us.
Blessed are you God of the rain,
the rivers and the lakes,
You give water for life and health
to refresh and cleanse all creatures.
MAY BE CELEBRATED AT THIS TIME
(insert names), God bless you
and keep you secure in this place.
May all who come here find in you
God's love and understanding.
As Jesus the Christ asked God's blessing
on food and drink
shared upon festive occasion,
so we invoke God's blessing
on the food we share now and later
on this festive occasion.
O God, be with us now and at all our meals
give us appetite and joy in eating together.
Blessed be God for daily bread.
Hear God's word of benediction:
The fruit of righteousness will be peace
and the result of righteousness,
tranquility and trust for ever.
My people will abide
in secure dwellings
and in quiet resting places.
And now the eternal Spirit
enfold this home with love;
indwell this home with joy;
and build this home in peace
evermore and evermore.
"Say the Rosary every day...
Pray, pray a lot and offer sacrifices for sinners...
I'm Our Lady of the Rosary.
Only I will be able to help you.
...In the end My Immaculate Heart will triumph."
Our Lady at Fatima
The word Rosary means "Crown of Roses". Our Lady has revealed to several
people that each time they say a Hail Mary they are giving her a beautiful rose
and that each complete Rosary makes her a crown of roses. The rose is the queen
of flowers, and so the Rosary is the rose of all devotions and it is therefore the
most important one. The Holy Rosary is considered a perfect prayer because
within it lies the awesome story of our salvation. With the Rosary in fact we meditate
the mysteries of joy, of sorrow and the glory of Jesus and Mary. It's a simple prayer,
humble so much like Mary. It's a prayer we can all say together with Her, the Mother of
God. With the Hail Mary we invite Her to pray for us. Our Lady always grants our request.
She joins Her prayer to ours. Therefore it becomes ever more useful, because what Mary
asks She always receives, Jesus can never say no to whatever His Mother asks for.
In every apparition, the heavenly Mother has invited us to say the Rosary as a powerful
weapon against evil, to bring us to true peace. With your prayer made together with
Your heavenly Mother, you can obtain the great gift of bringing about a change of
hearts and conversion. Each day, through prayer you can drive away from yourselves
and from your homeland many dangers and many evils.
It can seem a repetitive prayer but instead it is like two sweethearts who many times
say one another the words: "I love you"... A devout exercise to perform praying the Rosary
to obtain any request is the "54-day Rosary Novena" in honor of Our Lady of Pompeii.
You can find the History of the Rosary reading the Secret of the Rosary of Saint Louis
Grignion de Montfort.
The Holy Father John Paul II with the Apostolic Letter ROSARIUM VIRGINIS MARIAE of
10/16/2002 has added 5 new mysteries of the Rosary: The Mysteries of the Light.
The whole Rosary is composed of twenty decades. Each decade is recited in honor of
a mystery in Our Lord's Life and that of his Blessed Mother.
It is customary to recite five decades at a time while meditating on one set of mysteries.
The decades may be separated, if the entire chaplet is completed on the same day.
Each Mystery may be meditate "bead by bead" for every Hail Mary of the decade.
How to pray the Rosary
1 While holding the crucifix make the Sign of the Cross. and then
recite the Apostles Creed.
2 Recite the Our Father on the first large bead.
3 Recite a Hail Mary for an increase of faith, hope and charity
on each of the three small beads.
4 Recite the Glory Be to the Father on the next large bead.
5 Recite the Fatima Prayer "O my Jesus" on the large bead.
6 Recall the first Rosary Mystery and recite the Our Father on the large bead.
7 On each of the adjacent ten small beads (also refered to as a decade)
recite a Hail Mary while reflecting on the mystery.
8 On the next large bead, recite the Glory Be to the Father, the Fatima prayer.
9 Each succeeding decade is prayed in a similar manner by recalling
the appropriate mystery, reciting the Our Father, ten Hail Marys,
the Glory Be to the Father, and the Fatima prayer while reflecting on the mystery.
10 When the fifth mystery is completed, the Rosary is Customarily
concluded with the Hail Holy Queen, and the Sign of the Cross.
Sign of the Cross
Make the Sign of the Cross:
In the Name of the Father
of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
The Apostle's Creed (Other Version)
I BELIEVE in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth. I
BELIEVE in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord. He was conceived
by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under
Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the
dead. On the third day he arose again. He ascended into Heaven, and is
seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living
and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the
communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
OUR FATHER, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom
come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who
trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
HAIL MARY, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among
women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother
of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
GLORY BE to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was
in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
O My Jesus
O MY JESUS, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell and lead all
souls to Heaven, especially those who are in most need of Thy mercy.
Hail, Holy Queen
HAIL, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our
hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send
up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then,
most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us. And after this our
exile, show unto us the blessed Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O
loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, o Holy Mother of God, that
we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.
Let us pray. O GOD, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and
resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant, we
beseech Thee, that meditating upon these mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary
of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain
what they promise, through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen
Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle;
be our protection against the wickedness
and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray:
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
In Latin it is...
Sancte Michael Archangele,
defende nos in proelio;
contra nequitiam et insidias diaboli esto praesidium.
Imperet illi Deus, supplices deprecamur:
tuque, Princeps militiae Caelestis,
satanam aliosque spiritus malignos,
qui ad perditionem animarum pervagantur in mundo,
divina virtute in infernum detrude.
